The problem is, an intelligent hypothesis is made with statistics or computer science or even a good understanding of chemical interactions… which you have none of as a biology major. You are left with nothing except to speculate, form a baseless hypothesis, and run it through an experimental technique. If it fails, you make another hypothesis.
