   Pong isn't really an Atari 2600 game. They did sell a version of it, but Pong is from 1975. Atari released it as a stand alone console.    • You're correct, Atari games ARE generally poor in comparison to what came later. The best you can do these days is to try to appreciate them in context of where video gaming was at in the late 70s and early 80s. And also understand that these first steps directly led to the video games we have today. I could not have said it any better.

   • Get third party controllers. Check a local vintage store and ask to try them. They are easier to handle than OEM Joysticks. That's a big drawback to people new to the Atari 2600. Gemstik is a good choice of such controllers. I personally prefer a Sega Genesis controller on my Atari 2600.

   • Play better Atari games the best ones are the ones that are Arcade style fast paced fun. Like Berzerk and River Raid, Centipede. another good one which is kind of not the style I mentioned is Secret Quest, there is also Solaris. Play Keystone Kapers. Such a great game. I loved ET as a kid.
