The company was founded on March 5, 1986, as Shizuoka Animation and first changed its name to Yumeta Company in October 1990. After the acquisition of HAL FILM MAKER, the company was renamed TYO Animations on July 1, 2009, and operated as a subsidiary of TYO.
Former Tama Production animator — Satoshi Yamaguchi — founded Yumeta Company as Shizuoka Animation Co., Ltd. on March 5, 1986. Following its establishment in October 1990, the studio changed its name to YUMETA CO., LTD. and became a subsidiary of TYO in January 2005 — alongside its other animation subsidiaries Hal Film Maker and later Doga Kobo.
