I'm looking for any article that I can post that addresses the problems with shocking a Basenji - or any dog - in the name of training. Horrifically she puts this device in the hands of pet owners.

@nyoung15 My basenji was super picky when he was a puppy.... until I started to cook for him amazing recipies heheeh, but then pandemic season was over and I had to go back to work and started to give him whole barf ( raw food ) it comes with meat veggies, fruits, raw bones and vitamines.

Oct 10, 2010 · My Basenji Billy is quite undershot; he's a purebred, his bottom jaw just didn't stop growing when it was supposed to. That's okay, I'm a bit of a sucker for a dog with an underbite anyway.:) He was my first rescue Basenji.

He has a big fenced in yard to run around in, but when I have him out on a leash with a harness, he makes me nervous because he gets SO excited at everything and tries to run. What’s the best harness for a basenji/possible escape artist. I just have a regular harness from petco. Thanks!
Apr 22, 2021 · Once the basenji finally stopped trying to find a way to get thru the gate to the door, I propped the door to the guest room open a few inches so the cat and dog smells and sounds were stronger. After the basenji ignored the gate/propped door, I opened the guest room door enough so the cat could get into the hallway.
Jul 7, 2016 · Was wondering if anyone else's basenji has or had this before. My boy has been having some coughing and choking problems. He also wheezes when he runs around allot. Not sure if he has allergy's to something or what. I have had him to the vet, they think he might have a bronchial allergy. They are not sure.
Jun 8, 2018 · We have a six-year-old basenji who is an escape artist. He has a large back yard, but climbs the fence. We talked with our breeder who recommended an electric fence. We tried that and he just climbed through it. He gets regular walks, spends time inside and with the family. Any suggestions about how to keep him in a yard so he's safe?
