If you want quick updates and better performance (especially with shaders), then use some modpack with sodium and iris, there are some for 1.20.2 already.
Aug 13, 2022 · Go to your downloads folder (or wherever OptiFine is located) in explorer and paste cmd into the path bar. The command line should open. Paste in java -jar OptiFine_mcver_HD_U_ver.jar, replacing “mcver” with the Minecraft version and "ver" with the OptiFine version (basically change it to the name of the OptiFine installer).
Jul 9, 2017 · the download link on the official website brings you to an adfly page (which optifine used to get money) don't download anything off of the adfly just click the top right "SKIP AD". don't worry if a popup appears just close it. once you get past adfly click the blue text that says "Download Optifine Version ____" or something like that.

Mar 26, 2022 · A few weeks later, I get a pop up asking for my information (clearly malware because I didn't have a password for that website). As I've stated previously, Optifine was the only thing that I downloaded from sources besides the official store. I have never gotten these pop-ups before downloading Optifine or after deleting it.
