Area that I know to be more modern is west area like Courbevoie, Puteaux, Issy-les-Moulineaux, and other further suburbs like Antony.

Non-EU residents can get some of the VAT (Value Added Tax) back before leaving the country but you have to do some paperwork. The VAT is like 20% in France on commercial goods.

  8. If you want to travel to France, I would avoid going to Paris. It has a very nice appeal as the “City of lights” and the “City of Love”, sith beautiful architecture and everything.. And although that might be true in some parts of the city (mainly in the center where the first few districts are), the rest can be disappointing.

  10. Sep 9, 2022 · It’s OP’s first trip to Paris…even if one accepted the comparison, it disregards OP’s question: Safety wise, neither neighborhood is particularly dangerous. As a first time tourist, it would be much easier to get around Paris and explore starting from the Latin Quarter and working from the center outwards rather than the opposite, as Kat5211 already highlighted.
