May 30, 2021 · First I tried using the computer that passed their equipment test. Then my second PC had camera issues, allegedly. The ProctorU technician said my camera was disconnected. I was unable to take the exam. Later in the day, Best Buy did a test and found my camera and mic are working perfectly. Run away from ProctorU and any institution that uses it.

May 19, 2020 · Nightmare ProctorU experience - wondering if anyone has experienced the same. Hi everyone. Hope you're all doing well during these crazy times. The state I live in is going to be locked down for a while, probably at least another month. As such, I decided to give the at home ProctorU experience a try. My exam went smoothly to start.
I was really anxious during the whole set up but the proctors are polite and once you actually start your test, you'd probably be too busy with the content to focus on someone watching you. The timeslots for my exams were from 8pm-9pm (starting time). My online course this summer requires it. I'm a bit creeped out by it if I'm being honest.
Oct 5, 2020 · ProctorU says they were salted and hashed, other sources say they were in plaintext. I've used it for two exams at UIUC, it's not unbearable, but the process is irritating. They essentially take control of your computer (remote desktop via LogMeIn) and activate your webcam/microphone using a flash plugin.
Feb 11, 2021 · I started my exam with ProctorU a few weeks back. So once your last assignment has been marked you will get an automated email to schedule your exam. Then once the exam time arrives, you click on this link on the ProctorU website and it takes you in a call.
Sep 10, 2022 · Remember with ProctorU everything is being recorded (video and audio). This is a great protection for the student! Without a record, the proctor could make up any gaslighting story and you would have no unimpeachable rebuttal. With a record, you can simply point to the evidence and you are fully protected.
Apr 1, 2021 · ProctorU is built on the idea that they can see and hear everything on your computer when you test. So if you're using ProctorU next week it will happen. They take control of your mouse and ensure everything is closed that's not supposed to be open, then they have you use your camera to show your entire room, then they watch and record your screen and you while you take the exam.
