    Barrie M. Osborne is an American movie producer, executive producer, production manager and film director. He is an alumnus of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and he currently resides in Wellington, New Zealand.

    He was born on February 7th, 1944 in New York City, and began his film career in 1976.

    Osborne's most notable work as a movie producer is The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2004), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Picture alongside Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. He has been nominated to three Oscars and won one, Best Picture for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. In the extended editions of the films, Osborne gives commentary throughout documentary shorts such as Weta Digital and Visualizing the Story.
