After each comment, they put their code names: Moony (Remus Lupin), Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew), Padfoot (Sirius Black), and Prongs (James Potter).

Jul 27, 2017 · It is a major plot point in Goblet of Fire that the Marauder's map identifies Bartemius Crouch Jr. as simply Bartemius Crouch; therefore leading to the confusion that Bartemius Crouch (Sr.) was the person searching Snape's office. This has always bothered me a bit; surely the Marauder's map would be able to distinguish between two different people?
Feb 19, 2012 · Fred and George stumbled upon the Marauder's map in their first year. They passed it on to Harry while in their fifth year. Also note that, while talking to Harry on the train, Ron described Scabbers as being "Percy's old rat". Hence, we can safely assume that the twins had the Marauder's Map for about five years.
Aug 23, 2014 · The size of the Marauder's Map always bothered me. I assumed it unfolded into a large but still manageable piece of parchment. However, the fact that it shows the entirety of Hogwarts - every floor and the grounds - but also showed a miniature Harry dot holding a miniature wand to instruct real Harry on getting into Hogsmeade, seems impossible.

The Marauder’s Map subsequently became something of a bane to its true originator (me), because it allowed Harry a little too much freedom of information. I never showed Harry taking the map back from the empty office of (the supposed) Mad-Eye Moody, and I sometimes regretted that I had not capitalised on this mistake to leave it there.
The Marauder's Map would have shown Mad Eye Moody in his room, as long as he was kept there. While all the ill doing of Bartemius Crouch Jr. would be blamed on his father. Secondly Harry did not use the Map to spy on teachers, he basically checked it to see if the corridors were free or not.
The Marauder's Map is a magical document that reveals all of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Not only does it show every classroom, every hallway, and every corner of the castle, but it also shows every inch of the grounds, as well as all the secret passages that are hidden within its walls and the location of every person in the grounds, portrayed by a dot.
