May 10, 2023 · Bob Cousy is quite down my top 100, maybe not even in it if I did a recount. If using Cousy's 63 ranking as a medium of sorts, he's still closer to guys out of the top 100, even if those guys are like 130, 140, 150 etc as the tiers start to have more players in them the lower down the rankings you go.
A guy like Bob Cousy was a NBA Champion and an MVP, he wouldn't even come close to making an NBA team. A guy like Elgin Baylor, who averaged 27 and 13 for his career, probably wouldn't make an NBA team either.

Jul 17, 2009 · Post #3 » by Minge » Sun Dec 13, 2009 1:17 am. Cousy would be no worse than Rondo in today's NBA. He had long fingers, that enabled him to experiment with his handle. With modern advances in training, he could probably have a long career, like Stockton (40 year-old).
The Celtics pre-Russell finished 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, and 2nd in a 4 team division despite Cousy and fellow HOF players Bill Sharman (who was more efficient than Cousy and a better defender -- think Dumars to Cousy's Isiah) and Ed McCauley (also more efficient and a good inside scorer).
Nov 2, 2016 · Both were a quicker, faster than Cousy. Rodgers was a very good ballhandler/passer, But the problem with Rodgers was that, like Cousy, he shot too much. He was a poor shooter who one season as a pg averaged almost 20 shots a game while shooting about 37% from the floor.
Jul 21, 2021 · In terms of % of teams shots (fga wise), taking a cursory glance at '52 Davies (his minutes go down after this, though he maintains points by drawing more fouls) versus '58 (but Cousy misses games) or '55 Cousy I'm not sure I could see a gap in Cousy's favor never mind "a good gap in offensive load". More though I'd just caution about any strong conclusions on Davies given the data gaps.

May 22, 2022 · Bob Cousy: 6x Championships, 1x MVP, 13x all star, 10x 1st team all-nba, 2x 2nd team all-nba, 8x Assist champion... Biggest thing to understand is that Cousy's career breaks into 2 sub-careers, where the former heavily influenced perception of the latter.
