Jun 15, 2021 · How good is Deandre Ayton? The former #1 overall pick has been a really solid contributor for the Suns. However he has always been overshadowed by others in his draft class (notably Michael Porter Jr., SGA, Luka and Trae). And his 2 teammates in CP3 and Booker are widely lauded as the driving forces of the Suns success this season.
Is Deandre Ayton a bust? He has career averages of 17/10, and was a critical piece on a Finals team. Yet you can't help but feel like he's been a huge disappointment relative to his draft position.
Ayton is a below average #1, at least so far. But he projects to have a below average career for a #1 too. Would you consider DeAndre Ayton a bust? It's been 6 years since Ayton was drafted. For me he's tough to evaluate. Sure he's a walking double double but after 6 years all he has to show for it is the All Rookie First Team. No All Stars, no All NBAs, no All Defense, never led the league in any box score statistics.

Many Raptors fans have started talking about wanting to get him next season. Let's talk about it here.
Ayton because he has better offensive potential outside of standard rim running (solid hook shot, mid range, turnaround fade, can shoot fts, and working on his 3 ball).
Deandre Ayton is pretty much the baby from Honey, I Blew Up The Kid! Just a giant softy who I expect nothing from this year and regret having drafted him at what I thought was a steal in the end of the 5th.
