Sep 22, 2015 · Direct2Drive used to be GameFly which I've used a number of times. I think it used to be called Direct2Drive in the beginning. It is a legit seller and if you're positive it's D2D employees asking you for this info I wouldn't be too worried about it. Proceed with caution.
They use an encrypted .exe that is incompatible with the Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE). Steam, on the other hand, made sure that their version works with OBSE. "The Direct2Drive version of the Oblivion executable has additional DRM applied, which would be illegal for us to bypass. We cannot support this version."
Feb 17, 2011 · Direct2Drive was the download game service I used a lot before Steam because for a long time, I disliked the idea of "one program managing my games." However, for about the past two years now, Steam has been my default go-to place for online games (outside of GoG for older, rarer stuff).
