Peak brightness gets reduced by 10% by setting the scanning backlight option to 1 (Clearness) but on the other hand you boost motion resolution by more than double. Values above 1 do no bring sizeable improvements. HDR peak brightness still ticks in at close to 900 nits with the scanning backlight system activated.
Aug 2, 2011 · Not true the same channels on Freeview and Satellite can vary dramatically in the resolution and bitrate used, even within regional variations. The best SD channels use 720 x 576 and bitrate of of around 7000mbps, the worst (blurry vision) 504 x 576 at very low bitrates. Take Channel 4HD.

Feb 11, 2020 · After a reset that is all the Humax is looking for. 80% on signal strength and 70% on signal quality is not very good for a UK based dish, is this at the dish or the end of the cables, and if the latter were both tested? Perhaps looking at 19.2E or a cable fault. Tuner faults on a HDR-1000S are almost unheard of.

Thing is I know a shop that is selling a 701 for £100 less than the usual £450 making it a huge price diff between the 7 and 8. Basically its an open box 7 for £350 vs an 8 for £580+ I am of course reluctant to spend another 40% for a 10% increase.
