    Phoenixhas quickly become one of my favorite coffee shops in downtown Cleveland, although, this hasn’t always been the case.     Rising Staris another Cleveland coffee shop that has grown rapidly since opening it’s first café in 2012. Like Phoenix, Rising Star also has its own roastery in Ohio City and has five locations throughout the Cleveland area.

    Erie Islandhas been a Cleveland staple for a decade, ever since opening their downtown Cleveland coffee shop on East 4th in 2009. This was back when even the newly overhauled East 4th street was just beginning to become popular.

    I first went to The Cooper Moon thinking it would just be another trendy and Instagram-ready coffee shop to check off the list. After all, it is located in Playhouse Square, which is where a lot of millennials live in newly refurbished luxury apartments. Thankfully, my initial judgement was incorrect.

    • Citizen Pie Roman Cafe. There’s nothing better than pizza and there’s no better way to eat it than by the (rectangular) slice. Citizen Pie Roman Cafe has the right idea, offering an eclectic variety of slices, both classic and unique.
    • Butcher and The Brewer. Don’t let the brewpub identity fool you…this spot is serving some impressive and complex dishes to accompany their many house-brewed beers.
    • Society Lounge. Every bar and restaurant on E4S is lively and action-packed, which causes the mysterious-looking Society Lounge (a 21+ cocktail club) to stand out.
    • Cordelia. Cordelia is one of Cleveland’s hottest new restaurants, and certainly the culinary gem of East 4th Street. Their style is “midwest nice”, and everything is appropriate comforting yet refined, like the Burger Box, Chicharrones, and Fried Chicken.
