This product is based on the OVATION model and provides a 30 to 90 minute forecast of the location and intensity of the aurora. The forecast lead time is the time it takes for the solar wind to travel from the L1 observation point to Earth.
2 days ago · This page provides a prediction of the aurora’s visibility tonight and tomorrow night in the charts below. The animations further down show what the aurora’s been up to over the last 24 hours and estimates what the next 30 minutes will be like.
Tomorrow Night's Aurora Viewline. This is a prediction of the intensity and location of the aurora borealis tonight and tomorrow night over North America. It also shows a 'viewline' that represents the southern-most locations from which you may see the aurora on the northern horizon.
Space Weather Conditions. HF Radio: Weak or minor degradation of HF radio communication on sunlit side, occasional loss of radio contact. Navigation: Low-frequency navigation signals degraded for brief intervals. The Sun is officially in solar maximum of Solar Cycle 25.
2 days ago · This three-day forecast and many other sites, including the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), rely on the Kp index as an indicator of the auroral oval size. Inside the auroral oval, however, Kp is less relevant, since even when global activity is low, auroral activity can be high.
NOAA Aurora 30-Minute Forecast. Earth aurora map updated every 30 minutes with description and links to additional information. Choose the Northern Hemisphere or Southern Hemisphere and play the animation on the map to predict the likelihood of aurora at different latitudes.
Below you'll find the daily maximum expected global geomagnetic conditions (Kp) for the coming 27 days. This is the fastest way to quickly find out what kind of geomagnetic conditions are to be expected over the next 27 days. These predictions are updated weekly by the NOAA SWPC.
Oct 4, 2024 · Aurora Forecast. According to NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, the CME from Tuesday is arriving later than initially predicted, and should reach Earth around midday (EDT) on...
Current Space Weather Conditions. on NOAA Scales. HF Radio: Weak or minor degradation of HF radio communication on sunlit side, occasional loss of radio contact. Navigation: Low-frequency navigation signals degraded for brief intervals.
Oct 26, 2020 · The Space Weather Prediction Center is pleased to announce the operational release of improved 30 minute auroral prediction maps beginning October 28th. These maps are based on the OVATION-2013 model, which has an expanded range of geomagnetic activity coverage.
