St. François Xavier is an unincorporated urban centre located in the Rural Municipality of St. François Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. It is located about 15 km west of the city of Winnipeg on the Assiniboine River. Settled around 1824 as Grantown, it is the second oldest settlement in Manitoba.
In 1854, following the death of Cuthbert Grant, the parish took the name of St. François Xavier, which had been the name of the parish in Pembina, North Dakota, founded in 1819 by Father Joseph-Norbert Provencher. These Métis families made a living mainly from hunting and farming.

St. François Xavier. This community dates from 1823 when Cuthbert Grant, an outstanding Métis leader, established a Métis settlement. It was the home of Pascal Breland, an influential business and political figure, and Pierre Falcon, one of Manitoba's earliest song writers. Location: on PTH 26.
