Apr 25, 2022 · We have raised our oil price forecasts beyond the interim mid-quarter forecast released last month. We now expect WTI to average 103 USD/bbl this year and 95 USD/bbl in 2023 (chart 3); for Brent, we anticipate mean values of 108 USD/bbl and 99 USD/bbl in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The base forecast for both oil and gas is based on NYMEX futures in US dollars. Crude oil and natural gas forecasts are based on yearly variable factors, weighted to a higher percent for the current data and then reflect a higher percent to prior year historical data for the later years.
On a monthly basis, Nova Scotia's fuel oil prices were down 4.9%. National fuel oil prices were down 4.1% from April to May. Food price inflation was 2.9% in Nova Scotia (May 2024 vs May 2023).
