ESPN Classic was an American multinational pay television network owned by ESPN Inc., a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company (which controlled an 80% stake) and Hearst Communications (which had 20%). The channel was originally launched as the Classic Sports Network in 1995, and was acquired by ESPN in 1997.
Mar 15, 2021 · ESPN Classic Canada went on the air September 7, 2001, after receiving CRTC approval the previous November. The channel was controlled by CTV but ESPN in the U.S. held a 20% interest. The name of the channel was later changed to ESPN Classic.
