Ian James Rush MBE (born 20 October 1961) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is regarded as one of the best strikers of all time and one of the best Welsh players in the history of the sport. At club level Rush played for Liverpool from 1980 to 1987 and 1988–1996.
Liverpool captured the double in the 1985/86 season with Rush once again playing a key part, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Everton in the first-ever Merseyside final, which he rates as his most memorable game. Heartbreak for Liverpool fans worldwide was ahead.
