The two maps show the aurora and viewline tonight and tomorrow night. The brightness and location of the aurora is typically shown as a green oval centered on Earth’s magnetic pole. The green ovals turn red when the aurora is forecasted to be more intense.
It includes maps of the aurora's likelihood and visibility over North America for the current and following night. A short-term 30-minute animated model prediction that shows the last 24 hours of aurora activity is also available.

Oct 26, 2020 · The Space Weather Prediction Center is pleased to announce the operational release of improved 30 minute auroral prediction maps beginning October 28th. These maps are based on the OVATION-2013 model, which has an expanded range of geomagnetic activity coverage.
