Abbotsford is a city in British Columbia next to the Canada–United States border, Greater Vancouver and the Fraser River. With a census population of 153,569 people (2021), it is the largest municipality in the province outside metropolitan Vancouver.
The original core of Abbotsford all those years ago when it was first incorporated is what is known today as the Historic Downtown. Over the past decade, a great deal of revitalization has occurred.
The co-operative was officially incorporated as Abbotsford Growers Co-operative Union on March 4, 1948, with Jacob Janzen as the first president. The organization initially aimed to establish a local Berry Co-op to handle berry processing and washing.
