  4. Aug 24, 2022 · Winnipeg Railway Museum Renovation Updates. The museum now has a new roof, windows, sky lights and lighting. There have been leaks in the new roof but they were quickly repaired. Sunlight shining through the new windows lights up the museum in the afternoons.

  5. The Winnipeg Model Railroad Club (WMRC) and VecTor Garden trains came together to offer a fun weekend of riding an in-door train, seeing different layouts, and an opportunity to purchase some train items.

  6. Railways and History. Our museum is a treasure trove of artefacts that tell us stories about ourselves and our community. For example, The Countess of Dufferin rolled off the assembly line at the Baldwin Locomotive works in 1872.

  7. Steam Locomotives – A bigger, faster, more powerful horse. The first railway locomotives used the power of steam pressure to drive the engine. A fire at the rear of the boiler heated water to boiling point and the resulting steam was fed into the big cylinders at the front.

For over a century the caboose was the period at the end of the railway sentence. Our museum has three very different caboose types and my favourite is our Canadian National Pointe St Charles van, number 79553.
