Monpura (Bengali: মনপুরা), is a 2009 Bangladeshi Bengali film, directed by Giasuddin Selim. [3] It is considered as one of the greatest Bangladeshi films ever made. Over the years, this film has been a cult-classic due to lead's performance and the music album.
Monpura is one such film that represents a genuine Bangladeshi rural love story. Though the theme is common enough and other famous writers have written similar stories. But the picturisation, the setting of the island named Monpura is what has made the movie unique.
A housemaid is killed by a local landlord's son. His servant takes the blame for the murder, to save the landlord's mentally ill son and is marooned in an island named Monpura. There the servant comes across a fisherman's daughter.
