Annandale (/ ˈ æ n ə n d eɪ l /) [4] is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia. [5] The population of the CDP was 43,363 as of the 2020 United States Census. [2] It is home to the oldest and largest branch of the Northern Virginia Community College system, and to one of the D.C. area's Koreatowns.
The song's lyrics tell the story of a May 1969 drug bust at Bard College in Dutchess County, New York, referred to in the lyrics by its location, Annandale. The singer vows he will never go back to the college until "California tumbles into the sea".
