- Gerard Baker is a British writer and columnist. He was Dow Jones ' Managing Editor, and The Wall Street Journal ' s Editor-in-Chief from March 2013 until June 2018. Baker stepped down as WSJ Editor-in-Chief and transitioned into the role of Editor-at-Large. He was succeeded by WSJ executive editor Matt Murray.

Gerhard H. Bakker, printmaker, painter, teacher, and photographer, was born to Dutch parents in Solingen, Germany on 30 October 1906 and his earliest studies were at the Kunstgewerbe Schule in Solingen.
Known as a “Jack-of-all-Arts and Master of Many,” Gerhard Bakker’s work covered a broad range of media: watercolor painting, drawing, and graphic arts in lithography, etching and block printing. He was photographer, advertising designer, illustrator and prize winner in numerous exhibitions.
