- The federal carbon tax came into effect in Nova Scotia at midnight on Saturday, and that has moved the prices for fuels up significantly. The regulated price for gasoline shot up by 16.7 cents to a new minimum price of 165.6. Diesel prices are up by much more. The price for fuel rose by 20.3 cents to 158.6.
