Many of them prefer stuff like Boondock Saints. And why not? We’re like 30 minutes into The Godfather before some gangster shit happens, whereas Saints has a lesbian getting hit by a slab of meat and then a time-shifted bar fight within the first 10 minutes.
Without the Godfather, there would be no Sopranos, Goodfellas, Casino, just to name a few great movies that could not exist without it. Put it this way, it's NOT groundbreaking by today's standards, but it did help establish the ground itself.
