The state-of-the-art Zoo City Sportsplex, located at the intersection of Zoo Parkway and Old Cox Road in southeastern Asheboro. Area soccer and football programs began using the facility in 2023. A Grand Opening is scheduled for May, 2024.

ASHEBORO, NC – At the August 8 City Council meeting, Asheboro City Manager John N. Ogburn III announced that he plans to retire in March 2025 after thirty-five years of local government service, most of which has been in leadership roles.
Asheboro is the geographic center of North Carolina and is the home of the North Carolina Zoo. With a population of approximately 28,000, Asheboro is the largest city in Randolph County and is part of the Piedmont Triad, an area that includes Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem.
