VIGO COUNTY. Vigo County is home to the Queen City of the Wabash - Terre Haute. Terre Haute is French, meaning “highland” because of the unique location above the Wabash. This highland was known as the demarcation line between English-owned Canada to the north and French-owned Louisiana to the south.
