Originally built in the early 1930’s and formerly a federally sponsored church operated residential school, the College now houses college and university programs for area residents. In 2020, Blue Quills celebrated 50 years as Canada’s first Indigenous controlled education centre.
Jan 27, 2024 · A group representing survivors of Blue Quills residential school, which operated in Saddle Lake Cree Nation from 1898 to 1931, hopes to excavate a suspected communal grave this summer. The group says the remains of at least one child have been found above ground and animals have disturbed the site.
