Christopher Seider (or Snider) (1758 – February 22, 1770) was a boy who is considered to be the first American killed in the American Revolution. He was 11 years old when he was shot and killed by customs officer Ebenezer Richardson in Boston on February 22, 1770.
Pelted by stones, Richardson fled into his home, and when the crowd attempted to follow, Richardson fired a gun into the midst of his assailants, killing ten-and-a-half-year-old Christopher Seider. At Seider’s funeral, the procession extended from the Town House to the Liberty Tree, reportedly one of the largest ever seen in America.
