In 2009 the local soccer team, Seattle Sounders, joined the Major League Soccer (MLS) and in addition to his newscast, Méndez became the Spanish play-by-play announcer for selected Sounders FC games as well as the host of a Spanish language show called “Sounders FC en Acción”, a Sounders FC and MLS highlights show.Both programs continue on today and are aired on a seasonal basis.
