John Porter has been a filmmaker, performer, photographer and writer in Toronto since 1968. He has made over 300 films, mostly super 8, performed over 100 solo shows internationally, and has been called “the king of super 8”, among other names.

That’s when I decided I wanted to go to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in downtown Toronto and study photography and film. For my first film in 1968 I rented a camera from Janet Good. As soon as I started shooting I realized this is what I want to do.
