After years of planning, crunching numbers, a $10 million private fundraising effort and an intense nine months of construction, Old Dominion University will open the renovated Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium when the Monarchs host Norfolk State at 7 p.m. Aug. 31.
The stadium also served as the home stadium for the Norfolk State University football program throughout the 1980s and 1990s and hosted the annual Oyster Bowl game from 1946 to 1995, featuring numerous major college football teams.
