Romulus Zachariah Linney IV (September 21, 1930 – January 15, 2011) was an American playwright and novelist.
Romulus Linney was the author of three novels, four opera librettos, twenty short stories, and 85 plays which have been staged throughout the United States, in Europe and Asia.
In “Ambrosio,” Romulus Linney probes deeply into the nature of heresy and the power of love, both spiritual and temporal. Always a rapt student of history, he uses a seismic event in the past, the Spanish Inquisition, as a sounding board for his provocative thoughts on what drives people to irrational acts and crimes of passion.
