Jan 22, 2018 · Gyeongbokgung Palace, a popular tourist attraction in Seoul, was the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. Many people wear hanbok while walking around and touring the complex.
- Gyeongbokgung Palace 경복궁. The largest palace built-in 1395 under the Joseon Dynasty and commonly known as the Northern Palace because it is located towards the north.
- Changdeokgung Palace 창덕궁. Changdeokgung Palace built in 1405 and considered being the second largest in Seoul. This palace consists of the public Palace area, the residence building, and the rear garden.
- Changgyeonggung Palace 창경궁. This Palace located in the center of Seoul was built by the 4th ruler, King Sejong for King Taejong. This palace was initially named as Suganggung Palace.
- Deoksugung Palace 덕수궁. Located in the corner of Seoul’s business area. This palace was previously named as Gyeongungung Palace in 1611, and after 1907, it was named as Deoksugung Palace.

- Changdeokgung Palace | 창덕궁. Changdeokgung and its secret garden were first built in 1405 to serve as a secondary palace to Gyeongbokgung until Japanese invasions destroyed most of the palaces in the 1500s.
- Deoksugung Palace | 덕수궁. Deoksugung is basically right across the street from Seoul City Hall. It was originally built as a temporary palace for Prince Wolsan but it became the main place after the 1592 Japanese invasion.
- Changgyeonggung Palace | 창경궁. Changgyeonggung was originally built in mid 1400s under King Sejong for his father and then renovated in 1483 under King Seongjong.
