The work of Housing Services includes all levels of the housing continuum from unsheltered homelessness, emergency shelters, transitional and supportive housing, homelessness prevention, subsidized and affordable housing, to affordable homeownership.
The DNSSAB administers funding for various housing projects throughout the Nipissing District. These projects may include rent-geared-to-income units, market rent units, or a mix of both.
Support families with the cost of licensed child care, before and after school care and approved recreation programs. Offer funding, resources and professional development to help agencies offer programs that are high quality, accessible and inclusive.
Enable client self-sufficiency and decrease the reliance on social assistance. Increase equitable access to quality early learning and childcare. Understand and define service access throughout Nipissing district. Advocating, enhancing and aligning services to meet the needs of the people we serve.
The Nipissing DSSAB (DNSSAB) is among 10 Boards created in Northern Ontario to deliver social programs in an integrated manner with their jurisdictions. of the DNSSAB covers 17,000 square kilometers and includes 11 municipalities, two First Nations, and two unorganized areas – Nipissing North and Nipissing South.
DNSSAB’s HPP Program provides assistance to households experiencing homelessness and at-risk of homelessness by providing direct benefit support and Homelessness Prevention Navigator services.
DNSSAB staff will continue planning, in collaboration with the City of North Bay, for a permanent homeless hub site. Has a location for a 24/7 Integrated Homelessness Hub and Shelter been chosen?
