Encino Man (1992) is my guilty pleasure. This film is absolutely bonkers. I’m not going to spoil the plot, but it’s one you definitely can’t think too hard about. Sean Astin and Pauly Shore both have great chemistry, and the film’s many sequences are so much fun to watch. It’s such a feel-good, cliche film, but I absolutely adore it.

Encino Man encapsulates everything great about a early 90s teen comedy. You have Pauly Short with the iconic 90s fashion, speaking his own language as he does in his movies. Brendan Fraser having the time of his life in an early role. Sean Astin constantly whining throughout the movie, trying to become popular and noticed by his high school crush.

Hence "California Man" would help a Spaniard understand that the movie is about a man in California more than "Oak Man" would make them understand that it is about a man in a specific city near LA in California.
Aug 26, 2021 · Towards the end of Fick's book, Encino Man was actually trying to get Gunny Wynn relieved from command not Fick. In Fick's book, he ends up convincing EM not to do it because it would mess up team morale with their mission already coming to an end. This all that came to mind at the moment that others hadn't mentioned.

Apr 6, 2016 · Pauly was great, and Brendon was funny. The cave-wife at the end was nearly JO material, she was hot. Everything about it was so California, no relation to any other part of the world, but that was sort of the point. Overall 3.5 out of 5 on release, and 4 out of 5 for nostalgia! Others mentioned Bio-Dome and Son in Law... both respectable choices.
