Stony Plain is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Parkland County. It is west of Edmonton adjacent to the City of Spruce Grove and sits on Treaty 6 land.
Stony Plain is celebrating Canada Day with a day of free family-friendly fun in the sun on July 1 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum grounds, and Main Street. Parking will be available at Heritage Park. Jump on the train and get shuttled directly to the museum grounds.

Aug 21, 2020 · Before the area became developed by settlers, the area around Stony Plain was heavily wooded with brush and some open plain. The open land was perfect for buffalo and cattle, and with the Indigenous of the area being called the Stoney People, those two things came together to form Stony Plain.
