Omegaverse, also known as A/B/O (an abbreviation for "alpha/beta/omega"), is a subgenre of speculative erotic fiction, and originally a subgenre of erotic slash fan fiction. Its premise is that a dominance hierarchy exists in humans, which are divided into dominant "alphas", neutral "betas", and submissive "omegas". [1]
- The Alpha Wolf. The alpha position consists of two wolves, an alpha male, and an alpha female, also known as the Luna Wolf. The two work together to lead the pack and maintain order.
- The Alpha Female. Also known as the luna wolf, the alpha female gets her position from her association with the alpha male. So, she might not be the strongest or most dominant female in the group.
- The Beta Wolf. The word “beta” comes from the second letter of the Greek alphabet ( Β, β ), which is translated as B. It’s used to describe someone who comes right after the person at the top or second best.
- Mid-Ranking Wolves. Mid-ranking wolves, also known as subordinates, are the backbone of the pack and often the most active members. This rank consists of elderly and respected wolves, the alpha couple’s aunts and uncles, and younger wolves who want to prove their value to the pack.
The Omegaverse, or the Alpha/Beta/Omega (A/B/O for short) dynamics universe is a setting originating from and primarily found in Fanfiction, most commonly of the Slash Fic variety. Finding its origin in Supernatural Real-Person Fic, it quickly spread to other Fandoms and eventually to original Erotic Literature, Romance Novels, Manga and Manhwa.

What is it? The Omegaverse is an alternate universe following the hierarchy of wolves. That is to say, the alpha, beta, and omega. This system is what also gives it the name "omegaverse" as well as the short term A/B/O. Commonly, in fics with this universe, you see these three types.
In Archaic and early Classical times, the Greek alphabet existed in many local variants, but, by the end of the 4th century BC, the Euclidean alphabet, with 24 letters, ordered from alpha to omega, had become standard and it is this version that is still used for Greek writing today.
