Those top row of lights are very dim, so in sunlight or other strong light they are difficult to see. Shade that area with your hand, or turn on the smoker in dim light to confirm whether or not the lights are being displayed.

I've tried a cheap amazon one with so so results, in the end I've gone back to the bradley pucks.At 50 cts a pop it's not worth the fooling around to use my own wood chips.

I didn't really see the "or" -- I was envisioning the stock heating element left in place and then the 900W unit added in addition to. Sorry.
Jul 26, 2012 · It works by taking the 120 vac used to power the element & appling to the primary of a small power transformer with the secondary of 9 vac, then rectifing with a full wave bridge to get 9 vdc. This is then applied to the solid state relay (observing polarity). On test run with 500 watt element, it worked fine.
Oct 9, 2012 · October 09, 2012, 02:21:50 PM. Be sure to wipe down the door seal with alcohol to remove any sticky smoke residue. Wipe down the tower with alcohol where the seal meets the tower all the way around the door. That will prevent the seal from sticking to the tower and tearing the seal off of the door when you open it again.
