Back then, Hemmings Motor News and Peterson's magazine - Collector Cars I believe - were the go to magazines along with that lesser marketplace - name escapes me but it was fun. Then Collectible Automobile. I think there is a misconception regarding Hemmings, maybe not.

  7. Sep 22, 2024 · My understanding is that you are correct. Most collector cars (of all price ranges) trade hands privately. Car auctions are only a small portion of collector car sales. If my memory is correct, I think it is in the 15-20% range. So, I still think most people in the collector car hobby don't drive their cars much, and these data support that belief.

Jul 31, 2008 · Well, since I didn't have the foresight to keep my 1957 Porsche Speedster (or any of my other interesting cars - 52 MG TD; '61 Corvette; '39 Ford Roadster; '62 Triumph TR4; '63 Ferrari 250GTE 2+2) hopefully some day one or more of those fiberglass Porsche Speedsters will qualify as SGCV vehicles.
