High Plains Drifter is Western star Clint Eastwood’s first attempt at directing one of his own westerns. Given that he was mentored by the likes of Don Siegel and my personal favourite director Sergio Leone it’s no wonder that Eastwood went on to make hits like The Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven.
The High Plains Drifter is NOT some kind of advice to young men to understand how to win over women or to not get murdered. His deeds cannot and should not be replicated. He's no more a heroic model than Anton Chigurh was in No Country For Old Men. No one should want to be the High Plans Drifter.
Jan 10, 2024 · High Plains Drifter Some will say that they love Pale Rider too and that's fair enough, but while I do like it I find it to be a fairly pale imitation of the far more gritty and 'honest' High Plains Drifter. The latter also has a far more unsettling atmosphere, partly thanks to an excellent score.
Nov 7, 2016 · On Eastwood's "High Plains Drifter" [SPOILERS] I just watched this film for the first time and found myself very pleasantly surprised. Despite the first 15 minutes consisting of Eastwood's character killing 3 guys and raping someone who he implies (and later claims) was "asking for it," this movie kept me in it.

High Plains Drifter is literally the complete opposite, highlighted by us never finding out who he is, where he came from, and even being teased as the dead Marshal. The two are almost different genres, with Drifter almost being a parody of the usual tropes and town dynamics, even seguing into mysticism.

Feb 10, 2024 · It's such a great story, the background of the drifter, the tale of revenge, the secrets. It's amazing and I'm suprised I never gave it a watch before. Especially since it has one of the kings of westerns Clint Eastwood starring as the drifter. I definitely suggest it to anyone that hasn't watched it. Great western.
