Dec 6, 2017 · I'm with Alectra (formerly PowerStream) in Markham, the rates are similar to my buddy's rates with Whitby Hydro. You don't have a choice who your provider is. In Tottenham it would be Alectra. Hi, I know this is 2 years after you posted your question but Im in the same situation right now.
Dec 16, 2010 · Hydro One is definitely a larger company with a larger scope of business, very bureaucratic, and linked closely to the government. Toronto Hydro is a smaller company, less bureaucratic, but has a smaller scope of business. Both are leaders in the industry so there is a chance to influence what goes on in the province. Without batting an eye, they suggested the closest connection point was about 1KM away, and I could either negotiate rights-of-way and erect 13 poles, maintain the clearing and pay for everything or I could go submarine and get them to install a cable in the lake.

A family member of mine got a job with Hydro One after graduating from McMaster's Engineering & Management program with high marks, and 12 months co-op experience with Hydro One.
