The University of San Francisco School of Law (USF Law) is the law school of the private University of San Francisco. Established in 1912, it received American Bar Association accreditation in 1935 and joined the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) in 1937.
Ever since its beginning, the University of San Francisco has been different. The university was founded in 1855 as St. Ignatius Academy, a one-room schoolhouse on a cow path that would become Market Street. On opening day, three students showed up — for a student-to-faculty ratio of 1:1. By 1858, the number of students grew to 65.
