John Connor is a fictional character in the Terminator franchise. Created by writer / director James Cameron, the character is first referred to in the 1984 film The Terminator and first appears in its 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day ( T2 ).
John Connor was born on February 28, 1985, to Sarah Connor and his unnamed father. On the brink of extinction in 1997, John Connor united the despairing humans and taught them to fight, storm the camps and overcome the Terminator guards. Much of the Resistance was created from these survivors.

There is no official date given for their arrival in the episode; however, it could be assumed that it is either 2026 or 2027 by the ages of Kyle and Derek. We know only that it is sometime after Judgment Day. It could be, or may not be, before John Connor takes control over the Resistance.
