Kfar Saba (Hebrew: כְּפַר סָבָא [kfaʁˈsaba]), officially Kfar Sava [kfaʁ saˈva], is a city in the Sharon region, of the Central District of Israel. In 2019 it had a population of 110,456, making it the 16th-largest city in Israel. The population of Kfar Saba is nearly entirely Jewish.
Kafr Saba ( Arabic: كفر سابا) was a Muslim village famous for its shrine dating to the Mamluk period and for a history stretching back for two millennia. [6] [7] In Roman times, it was called Capharsaba and was an important town in Palestine. [8] By around 1000, it was noted as a village with a mosque. [9]
Kfar Saba was a place of refuge during World War I for roughly a thousand residents of Jaffa and Tel Aviv who were expelled by the Turkish. These refugees had to live in stables, tents and endure many hardships.
