Port Moody had an “early moment of fame” in the newly formed nation of Canada. In 1879, the town was officially named western terminus for the Canadian Pacific Railway, the transcontinental line promised in 1871 by Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, to entice British Columbia into Confederation.
