The Lenox was the first of the great Thirty Ship building programme of 1677, instigated by Charles II and managed by Samuel Pepys as Secretary of the Admiralty. She was built by John Shish, the Master Shipwright at Deptford and launched on 12 April 1678.
The Lenox Project was formed in 2011 in response to the planned redevelopment of the site of the former Deptford Royal Dockyard, which is now known as Convoys Wharf. The charity wants to preserve and celebrate the heritage of this part of Deptford to prevent it being lost.
