Golborne (pronounced / ˈ ɡ oʊ l b ɔːr n / GOHL-born) [1] is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, in Greater Manchester, England. [2] It lies 5 miles (8.0 km) south-southeast of Wigan , 6 miles (9.7 km) northeast of Warrington and 14 miles (22.5 km) to the west of the city of Manchester .

It has a station on the railway, and a post office‡ under Warrington. It was formerly a township of Winwick parish.

This township stretches northwards for about 2½ miles from the boundary of Newton to the Glazebrook. Millingford Brook, coming from Ashton, crosses the township and afterwards forms part of the eastern and southern boundaries.
